MS or Ferrari - Man or Machine

Michael Shumacher has been struggling in 2005: Is it that he's a bad driver? Or is the car not good enough? (to at least match the pace of the Jordan's, :) )

Ferrari with a reliable and fast car like the release in 2004 were absolutely unstoppable. MS were comparable to the Almighty. It gave him a record maximum number of wins in a season. Barichello was almost as good for a car a little slower than that of the Rain Master. The duo notched up 7 one-two's last season. In 2005 the Renaults and McLaren's had left the Dream Team staring into oblivion for answers! The only performance worth mentioning this season had been in the tainted American Grand Prix at Indanapolis, when only 14 out of 20 cars started (because of a problem with Michelin tyres).

Let's take a look at Valentino Rossi (Moto GP 1000cc) for a sec, to get some perspective. He beat the living daylights out of his competitors in 2003, so he decided to switch from Honda to a smaller teams to prove to himself that he could do it with lesser know and inferior team like Yamaha. Now this is what u call a challenge! He is also so confident about his racing skill he wants to try his expertise out on the biggest stage for car racing Formula 1!

True, the Ferrari 2005 has underperformed. But this could truly have been the perfectopportunity for MS to write down a fitting swan song (he's talked about his retirement after 2006) if he were to perform just as consistently with a mediocre car as he's been doing with great one. The next year will really confirm if Shumacher was actually the man behind the machine or just the machine itself?

Hi,
My name is Raghavendra G Basrur. I'm Aditya's classmate and one of his friends. But about this article, I am in complete disagreement with him.

First things first, let's face it - MICHAEL SCHUMACHER is the greatest Formula 1 driver ever. No other F1 driver has got as many records as he's got. To illustrate a few [as on September 2nd, 2005].........
1. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES: 7 [No other driver has won so many. The next best is 5].
2. GRAND PRIX-WINS: 82 [Next best: 51].
3. FASTEST LAPS: 56* (*as on 'end of 2003 season' and has got many more in 2004) [Next best: 41].
4. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS: 1038 (+ more than 120 points in 2004 season and has got 55 points after the Turkish GP in 2005) [Next best: 798.5].
5. KILOMETERS IN THE LEAD: 18,521 [Next best: 13,430].
6. POLE POSITIONS: 65 [Has equalled the late great Ayrton Senna's record].

Well, that should have given you the idea of this great man. As 'talent' of a man is intangible I think statistics is the most decisive factor in sports. Every sporting legend is 'measured' by his statistics in his/her sport, right?

Aditya says that Michael's success is only because he is driving a Ferrari. Well, along with the car the person behind the wheels is the key. Driving is a talent and everyone doesn't have it. Just spare a moment and think if anybody else was hired by Ferrari I don't think he could have achieved what Michael has achieved. IF THAT WAS THE CASE THEN FERRARI COULD CALL FOR A TENDER AND SAY WHOEVER BIDS THE HIGHEST GETS TO DRIVE IN FERRARI. Because, my friend Aditya believes anybody can break records in a Ferrari. That's ridiculous and misleading to weak-minded people and push overs. With all respect to Aditya, if he was in Michael's shoes I don't think he can beat all his records even with the best car offered by the Ferrari team. Even after many years of practising. Hence it's the talent which this great man has which has taken him to this height.

As Aditya says even Michael should try something new like V Rossi (No doubt...he his another legend) did. I think Michael himself is the best person who can comment on this. May be Michael loves driving in an F1 car than riding a bike. Even here it is the case of "job satisfaction" which we all say in our lives. Isn't it? FORMULA 1 IS THE PINNACLE OF MOTORSPORT IRRESPECTIVE OF EVERYTHING. Why should Michael go to a relatively lower class like Moto GP compared to F1? Rossi may be thinking of moving to F1 because it's much bigger than Moto GP. We are not sure, right? HENCE I ONCE AGAIN SAY MICHAEL IS THE BEST PERSON TO COMMENT ON THIS.

Anyway thinking in this manner about somebody like is a sad thing. I hope GOD will save him from all these ridiculous stuffs and bless him. I THINK THE BEST WAY TO KNOW THE ANSWER IS TO JUST LEAVE IT TO STAND THE TEST OF TIME. Will another man be born to break Michael's records? If yes, then GOD would have to send him to this planet just to drive F1 cars and go back. Because that's what it takes to beat this man.

The race victory in Imola 2003, just hours after his mother passed away is sheer talent and professionalism which any other driver is yet to prove. The second place finish in Imola 2005 starting from 14th in the grid when his car was under-performing is sheer talent once again and nothing can explain it. Even other drivers have done this but NOT when their car was as under-performing as Michael's this season (i.e. 2005). And don't forget the pole position in Hungary, 2005.

Well, that's it I guess. No matter what all those who love motorsports true from their heart will and have to salute this legend. I certainly am the first one to do it.

Spoorthi..I m Anuj's classmate.I visited ur blog really late...n sorry abt that anonymous thing.had a bit of problems!

Now raising the curtains.....
It was a million-dollar question last year whether anyone would be able to beat Schumi.....but 2005 GP answered it all!To start off Schumi is an extremely passionate driver..n if u think he is good only behind the wheels of that scarlet ferrari i think its wrong!Schumi undoubtedly has a tremendous record behind him(no wonder)...n who thinks Ferrari is the best car here in 2005?Renault had a more reliable engine n a faster start-off....McLaren its sheer speed can sum it up(though its reliability is a big ?)...n with Ferrari slumping with those Bridgestone tyres n the FIA rules going against it every inch...i think schumi is still here proving a point that he is THE UNBEATABLE!
the US GP...a really dark win for the winsome hero...Talking about swiching off to the weaker teams..i think Schumi has no point to prove there as i think ferrari is almost a weakling now suffering at every strech..every run!
Now Rossi....Cant exactly figure out y he is trying his hand at two things when he thinks talent is all that matters!
n as far as i know Schumi hasnt confirmed his retirement!
If u ask me the major factor for Schumi's dismal performance..check out Kimi n Alonso young blood replacing experience..everyone tends to grow less zealous for victories with AGE!
Hugh thats too unorderly...sorry cant help it dont have much time now..n if there is anyone who is against this..here is the message for u...We are different people!!!!
Still...SCHUMI (VR)RULE(OOOOOM)S!
